I can't speak to white vs. yellow stripers, but based on the bees I observed working Spotted Jewelweel (Impatiens capensis), orange flowers with deeper orange spots, I am convinced that it is Spotted Jewelweed that is putting the white stripes on the honey bees I've observed in upstate New York. That is of course unless the bees flew to the jewelweel after working toadflax or chicory.
