What else happens during that waiting period? The house bees of the time of
introduction mature and become foragers, while their young sisters emerge
who know only the new queen. Could it be that the 'worker police' (see Prof
Ratnieks' work at Sheffield University) are removing the eggs for reasons known
only to themselves, but upon which it is fun to speculate?
