Allergic reactions and intoxication are two separate, possibly
life-threatening effects of mass stinging events. Both vary a lot
from one person to other, and allergy may develop and go away in
time.

There's a small book from Harry Riches on this subject I strongly
suggest for those who want to know more:

The chapter "Allergy to Venomous Insects" from Justin Schmidt, in the
