But if (as I suspect) somewhere between 2% and 5% of all hives
have two laying queens co-existing, it follows that laying queens
are more likely to have a Cup of Tea than a Coup d'Etat.
Based upon my experience in setting up cell builders, and making up
thousands of nucs, I'd concur. I've seen three two-queen colonies in the
last week alone! (one a two story established colony, one an apparently
queenright nuc that mated out a queen from an introduced cell, one a
one-story colony with a clipped and marked breeder that had a happy
supersedure virgin walking around).
