The drawbacks of feeding honey:
"Usually diluted. Ferments rapidly; feed only the amount that will be
removed from feeder within 48 hours."
"Proven ability to spread American foulbrood (AFB) when taken from a
contaminated hive. The spores remain alive and infectious for decades in
honey, in combs, and on used equipment."
On the other hand, 1 to 1 sugar syrup:
"stimulates oviposition, encourages brood rearing, ensures drawing combs
from foundation."
