I have no experience of Langstroth, but using Hoffman frames and a dummy
board the fill most of the remaining space, I find that there is little room
left for any significant movement, certainly not enough to cause any
problems. I agree that a little propolis helps to hold things together.
I was surprised that you find Hoffmans slower to work - I find them much
quicker and better for the bees, as it is easy to move them just that small
amount that makes it easy to get the first frame out without rolling bees.
