I observed bees on jewel weed that are 'painted' in the manner specified and
have always thought jewel weed was the source.
IMO, the oxalic acid will kill the brood at the dilutions recommended (2%-
3.5%). However, 'now' is a good time for such an application as the queen
will resume laying 2-3 days after the application so there will be lots of
varroa-free young bees going into the winter. Probably 2-3 cycles worth.
I don't believe that the application will kill fully formed bees of any age.
