Many thanks to Keith Malone for the links supplied - real interesting read.

Ah! - I imagine the problem.
So, logical question is:
At what temperature does a beekeeper grade his or her colonies.
Behind this, whatever the temperature, the objective is to have a colony
that is going to perform its task of pollinating to a required economic
level.
And reading that the graders in Cal. want "8 frames" - the minimum "8
frames" are seen at what temperature minimum for minimum # of bees ?
What would this cluster size and associated temperature translate to for
somebody measuring in say N. Dakotan temperatures at same period of time.
This seems to me to be juggling with a bucket of eels on heat!!
Regards,
Peter
