Peter--this is a great book! I have always wondered--but know its
playing with fire--what kind of cross (or cross bee) would come from
some monticola stock.
"According to
Hepburn, the unprovoked aggressiveness of "adasonii" is NO MYTH. Other
types such as "capensis", "monticola" can be worked with ease, without
protective clothing or even smoke."
We know that in a african --european match-up is uneven as the
european bees get converted--could another "kinder Gentler" African
race be integrated successfully to reduce the aggressive tendencies
and still be competitive in an open mating situation. ie could this
gentler behaiver persist once introduced or would adonsonii take them
over as well?
