European comb replacement is shorter time periods than this.
Some beekeepers in Denmark replace comb entirely in every colony, every
year, in UK 3-4 years would be not far from the average.
During the period 1970 through to present day, replacement rate has
shifted from above five years down to two or three years and is still
reducing as more shook swarming (shakedowns) take place.
