The problem here would be getting a reliable dose,  as I imagine the
concentration would vary considerably, and you have to kill the  mites without killing
the bees as well.. Since the pure chemical is available  fairly cheaply, it
wouldn't be worth the hassle and uncertainty. If you just  want to kill
insects, an infusion of rhubarb leaves does make an effective  traditional
insecticide, though it's illegal nowadays in the UK.
