I have heard somebody make the suggestion that cordovan colored bees are a very good indicator signaling the influx of AHB into the colony. If all the workers are cordovan colored and then you suddenly get darker colored worker bees alighting onto the landing board, it's a pretty strong signal that something is amiss.
