I was to a seminar with Günter Hauk. His method is to put a small strip of
foundation in the frame so the bees "get some direction," and draw out fresh
comb. I have a few hives that in their second year seem to have packed
pollen into cells that the queen is having to lay around.
Since my foundation on organic wax is none too cheap, I am considering this.
Will the bees draw this out in the fall when I load them up with HFCS? I
was planning on doing a comparison between drawing comb on 2:1 vs. the HFCS,
but figure it has been done before. I searched the archives, but did not
find this information. I am going on Holiday for a week starting tomorrow.
Wife suggested I stay home and work and come down later. As a workaholic,
it is hard to resist...JK
