>> Abstract - Advanced functional genomic research on the honey bee (Apis
> mellifera) will require methods that allow researchers to work with bees
> derived from genetically manipulated embryos.

I can't remember how many years honeybees have been on earth, but I know
I've read that they've been around for millions and millions. And they've
done well, even considering the comparatively non-invasive relationship
they've had with humans. Like most creatures on earth, they really don't
need us at all. And if genetically modified honeybees do make their
appearance, it's a guarantee that once again we short-sighted and terminally
arrogant humans will have wreaked more unnecessary, ominous, and
destructive havoc, that may result in short term gain for a few people, but
in the long run will have disastrous consequences.
