Tests carried out by "Le Club Api" here in Quebec a good few years ago
indicated that about 60% of members' honey was positive for BP (then BL)
whilst actual detections in the hive was only around 2% of the colonies. You
can draw many inaccurate conclusions from such results.
I think the problem here is with contaminated honey from areas that may
have PL that is resistant to current legal antibiotics. There must be a
great deal of empty, unwashed honey barrels from Argentina being sold all
over the province of Quebec putting Quebec colonies at great risk of
acquiring resistant AFB. The same must apply to many honey importing regions
of the world.
