Without dispute, one has religion or philosophy.

The inevitable outcome of "dispute" is that the
truth stands up to a beating, and untrue things
don't.  (That said, a half-truth is like half a
brick in that one can throw it further.)

Being printed in ABJ in itself was clear and compelling
evidence that what was being said was either not submitted
to peer review, or was unable to withstand peer review in
one or more actual science journals.  With all due respect
to my buddy Joe Graham and his fine publication, it is a
magazine for beekeepers, and is not a part of the legitimate
scientific literature, despite the word "Journal" in the title.

The Canadians have looked at this multiple times in formal
studies with controls, statistics, and all the bells and
whistles.  Bottom line, not a whole lot of difference in
physiological advantages, but both sugar and hfcs have
the specific advantage over honey of having no indigestible
components ("ash"), and thereby better feed for bees that
may not be able to fly and void wastes during winter.
(I think that these studies were covered by the CHC
"Hivelights" magazine, but I don't have a citation handy,
and a cursory search of the CHC website found nothing.)

To each his own, but the "purity" of stores for overwintering
would seem to become mission-critical when one tries to keep bees
in locations with winters too long and/or too cold for bees to
overwinter at all without beekeeper intervention.
