Fondant can be many things but it is basically soft candy. Classic
recipe is 5 lbs sugar to one pint water. Heat to 242F (some do it to
only 240F) and pour into mold.
If you want it creamy, like icing, let it cool to about 110F and work it
on a marble slab as if you were working fudge. All that does is put air
into it, so if you are just interested in bee feed, don't bother.
I coat my mold (a rimmed cookie sheet) with Crisco so get the added
benefit of a little tracheal control.
