Sometimes there can be some success with extracting normally but this depends
a great deal on the extractor. Some extractors are better than others.
Radials (horizontal or vertical) are useless. There is a semi tangental
extractor recently developed here in NZ that does an exceptional job (better
than a tangental or semi radial) with reports of hexagonal shaped pieces of
granulated honey blocking the strainer - which leads to the next
problem......
