Thanks a lot, Mike.
However, don't use a book printed prior to about 1990 as your "BIBLE", or
"final"
authority. Unfortunately, far too many people have done exactly that; and
hence they know nothing about mites, hive beetles, pheromones, hygienic bees,
SMR, or the
important findings of the last 20 years.
We are not alone. There weren't any very accurate Timex watches twenty years
ago, and now the $20 Timex with a battery and chip are accurate to about 1
minute per year. Today, no car has a distributor that uses points and
condenser, but 20 years ago, 90% of all cars had not yet switched to electronic
ignition. Last week there
was an organ transplant of a BRAIN, and 20 years ago the transplant of a
liver was
in its infancy.
I have whole library of great bee books, INCLUDING A HUBER! I treasure them
to
remember my problems when I first got bees, 1933. However, as a scientist,
one
should try to keep abreast of every new finding about apis mellifera PROVIDED
THAT
THE FINDING IS HEAVILY SUPPORTED SCIENTIFICALLY.
Have a fine EAS, and I wish I could be there.
