The coving strips can well be sealed with a "shower" type mastic but I would
enquire after some food grade type silastics but, on reflection, as the area
is not in contact with food (honey) you would probably not need food grade.
Not sure if that is what it is called in Canada. It is basically a gap
filler that has some elasticity and is waterproof.
