In the course of conversation about other things, I was asked this by a
chestnut farmer...

"My question for you is this:  Do you have any idea if a honeybee might
help
spread pollen to the female flowers of the chestnuts?  I don't know if
there is anything of the female flower that would attract a bee to it,
though they are usually attached to the base of a catkin themselves.
This is
just an experiment for this year to see if they will provide any
help"....
