Last year I caught a carpenter bee starting to bore into one of my hives. It
was boring at the corner in the soft wood where the boards meet. This was a
freshly painted new hive. I gave it one good bip with my finger and it never
returned to finish the job. I guess it came over to my house to join it's
buddies. We have 18 acres of woods and they still bore into the painted wood
under our patio!
