After reading this, I have been thinking about the feral hives that I have
boxed out of trees. I would say that in the majority of cases, the
entrances are above the nest. Some I recall were about half way.
Not sure if our mild climate would make any difference. We need ventilation
in our normal hives because of the humidity.
