Preacher in Missouri asked about ways to remove old comb from the hive:

Removing old comb *with problems* is always a good idea.

I would reduce the hive down into one box  the first of April ( taking old
comb) and put a  box of foundation ( 10 frames) on top and feed, feed and
feed until drawn out.

Quit feeding when top box is drawn out.
