For Garry.
     Bees can and do feed on dry sugar. However they need moisture to dissolve
the sugar, saliva for instance, in the absence of water. Like any other bodily
function, production of saliva requires the use of energy, which the bees may be
very much in need in a cluster situation. Why not try feeding in liquid form?
