There is a short article written by Susan Cobey at

describing Harry Cloake's method of queenrearing.

I'd note that this manipulation (the actual turning of the floor end for
end) only happens the one time when you're initially setting up the colony
for cellraising.  After that, the actual disturbance of the colony is even
less intrusive...
