    If you are going to spray latex with a cup gun try adding a little
Flotrol to the paint.
It makes  latex paint spray easier.  Unless you have a viscosity cup-(a
funnel like gadget you fill and time in seconds how long it takes for paint
to run through)
teh thinning will be trial and error.
A roller and a brush would be my choice - less mess less cleanup.
