Roberta,
In response to your comments on the re-use (sterilization) of rubber gloves, it
brought back some memories I had forgotten. In my first life (and I won't say
how many years ago that was) I was a medical lab. tech. In those days, when we
used gloves at all, and it wasn't very often, they were rubber gloves that were
wrapped in towels and sterilized via autoclave. I can even remember having to
wash and re-wrap the gloves for re-sterilization. Yes, your country is behind,
but I'm not so sure that the way we do it in the U.S. is always the *right*
way. Now we begin to look at people who have allergies to latex (the material
that all disposable gloves are made of) and the constant throwing away of all
of our disposables is causing land fill and egological problems.

Wow! I really seem to be having a soap box day.

Re: the supplemental nursing system: There is another method of supplementing
babies who need it that I prefer. Now, don't everybody jump, - it is simply my
preference. I use a periodontal syringe and finger feed the baby. Have you
seen this method? Perhaps it might be cheaper for you down there to obtain or
rig syringes for supplementing rather than trying to SNS. Just a thought.
I'll bring some syringes, along with my mouth (palate) model along to the
conference and show you, if you like. Actually the palate thing came up before
you were on Lactnet, but we were talking about bubble palates and I have a
model of several different kinds of palates that I am bringing so everyone can
see.
Regards,
Yaffa
