Jaye asked:
"any BF/parenting literature out there (somewhere) that focuses on
lesbian/gay families"

I found this to be a problem when I rewrote/updated my local nursing
mothers' group literature a last year. I just rewrote it from a neutral
point of view (i.e., substituted "partner" for "dad"). Some of the group
members had a difficult time not specifically mentioning "dad." However,
a few of us held out for the neutral language. We have had many young,
single mothers who live with their parents and father is not involved. I
think some of the resistance was not wanting to acknowledge the diverse
women we have in our midst. I find that when literature uses only
"dad," it not only excludes lesbian couples but also grandparents and
other family members who might be helping mom.

I think anyone who publishes breastfeeding literature needs to be
sensitive to this.
