Pam said the UCLA Lactation Training was described by Susan "to a T."

But the UCLA Lactation Consultant training has a prerequsite:

>>>PREREQUISITES:
The program is open to licensed health care professionals.<<<<

Therefore, we would be back to square one, and this is not the path many of
us have taken to the IBCLC certification. I am not a liscensed health care
professional. I am a long time, knowledgable LLL Leader and IBCLC. I
passed the exam several times with high scores. I welcome other
opportunities to advance my knowledge and skills, but UCLA Lactation
Consultant training is ALSO weeding out non-RN types, already.

Not to mention the harm I happen to believe they have done with their
"Lactation Educator" certificates, over the years, by allowing their course
to be seen by many in the health care industry as "the" certificate, or,
"enough" to define someone as a lactation consultant on staff- even if they
were not IBCLC, but only holders of this short course completion certificate.

I respect your efforts, Pam, but I have not been satisfied by UCLA's
involvement in lactation. ....My .02.
