When I attended the Hale/Hartmann et al seminar in October, I spoke with
Dr. Hale about the use of gentian violet for thrush. As you know, his
research has shown that the "yeast" we are seeing on nipples is NOT
yeast - he could not get anything to grow on culture plates specific for
yeast. BUT, gentian violet is a potent antibacterial, anti-staph,
traditional remedy. In India years ago, it was used to treat infected
ulcers on the feet of leprosy patients! And very successfully, long
before there were antibiotics.

Two questions:

Can anyone tell me how gentian violet treats nipple yeast - the actual
mechanism how it works; not how to use it.

Is anyone familiar with the new "colorless" gentian violet? I've heard
of it indirectly but don't know what it really is or if it is effective
against nipple yeast - isn't it the dye itself that is antifungal?

Any info would be appreciated. Thankyou,
