"Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in 4 children treated with growth hormone.
Rev Neurol 148, 328-334 (1992).
Billette de Villemeur, T., Gourmelen, M., Beauvais, P., Rodriguez, D.,
Vaudour, G., Deslys, J. P., Dormont, D., Richard, P., and Richardet, J. M.

"Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease was diagnosed in four growth hormone recipients at
the age of 10, 11, 18 and 19 years. To our knowledge, the two first cases are
the first instances of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease recorded in children. Three
of them were still being treated with synthetic hormone at the onset of the
disease....
[This case and its background is discussed in Jennifer Cooke's prioze-winning
new book "Cannibals, Cows & The CJD Catastrophe" "Norray, Isabelle: Youngest
CJD victim in the world, aged 10, and among the first French hGH recipients
to die of CJD in 1991."

The hGh given to these children is genetically engineered growth hormone.
While the suggestion in this article is contaminated cadavers, I would like
to mention that genetic engineering has the risk of creating new pathogens.
What we may be seeing in some of these new, deadly diseases is part of the
risks of genetic engineering. E. coli is a common vector for genetic
engineering and now we have a much more deadly e.coli. Is this really a
natural mutation of a pathogen or is it because of genetic engineering?
