Regarding the recent comments about blood in pumped milk--I can't
help but wonder how ofter this occurs but noone is aware of it
because it goes directly from mom to baby "out of sight". When a
mom notes a little blood in pumped milk, she usually calls worried
about whether it's safe to gove baby. First, it doesn't take many
drops to give quite a red shade. Secondly, as far as I'm concerned,
it just means the baby gets a little extra iron. Of course, active
bleeding or blood in milk which persists should be checked out, but
I suspect that occasional bits of blood are probably due to a small
capillary which breaks possibly from vigorous pumping, but quite
possibly with no apparant cause.
