I don't know if this makes you feel any better, but about ten years ago, my
parents took us to Disney World-I was 21 and my sister was 19---WE LOVED IT!
We were old enough not to be embarrassed about being silly and reliving our
childhood. (Our teenage step siblings hated it...)
We thought that Donald Duck was a little squirt, so we got a picture of us
"strangling" him (we didn't hurt him). Imagine HIS surprise!! Surely not
akin to him mauling your daughter..and there was NO EXCUSE, but imagine the
maulings the characters get.

Thought this might give you a little chuckle.

Subject: Introducing myself and about Disneyland

Dear friends,

I am back to Lactnet after some years. My name is Denise Arcoverde, I am
brazilian, coordinate a breastfeeding NGO called Origem
www.aleitamento.org.br/ingles which works with breastfeeding promotion,
support and protection since 1988. We have a very interesting work creating
breastfeeding support groups in poor communities. This project is called
Milky Way. I will be back to tell you more about Origem later, if you want
to know more. I am also an IBFAN member and a member of the WABA Steering
Committee. Years ago I had been in touch with you when I was WABA WBW
International coordinator.

Anyway, I've been in Los Angeles with my daughter, Beatriz (we call her
Bia), last March. We had a horrible experience in Disnelyland, which has
nothing to do with breastfeeding but shows how decadent Disney companies
are. She is a teenager, so she didn't get very interested about Disneyland -
indeed we hated it - but since we were there, just for fun, I asked her for
me to to take her picture with Donald Duck. Do you believe that "Donald
Duck" grabbed her "butt" (sorry if it is not an adequated name in English, I
don't know anyone else)????????

She was shocked! I have this picture and one cannot see his hand, of course,
but can see her surprised expression! amazing, isn't'? We didn't talk to
anyone in Disneyland because we don't want to be responsible for the guy
losing his job, but it is really terrible! (By the way, I have a picture of
her in this day in Disneyland, if you want to see my CUTE "baby" - it is in
www.mulher.org.br/cyberella/me19.htm - it is a kind of personal site of
mine, under construction)

By the way, the only time I saw a woman breastfeeding in public in USA was
in the aquarium in Btimore when we - Bia and I - were watching the dolphins
show. It was BEAUTIFUL to see both of them :)

Love to you all,

Denise Arcoverde
