I hope you don't mind my sending this, as prematurity has such a definite impact on breastfeeding, lactation and the BF relationship shared by mother and baby/babies. The rate of preterm birth is rising rather than decreasing. Today one in eight babies is born too early in the USA and many without warning or explainable cause. Prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death in the USA and babies who do survive often face chronic health and developmental disabilities for the rest of their lives.

The March of Dimes is readying a new campaign that will focus on funding research into the cause(s) of premaurity and is kicking off this campaign via its first Prematurity Awareness Day on Nov. 18. This findings of such research should have global implications.
