Hello wise ones
Have been asked about a respiratory function test for a woman who had
several bouts of ? pleurisy/ ? pneumonia in pregnancy - the physicians even
thought she had had a P.E. - now the baby is 5 weeks old. Apparently the
mum inhales the chemical methacholine. It is experimental use in NZ but
apparently used in other countries.
Any info?
Have searched the archives and Dr Hale's site... no luck.
The mum is well and if there is any risk the test will be postponed.
I told her that generally inspired drugs are ok. Have never heard of this
stuff ... but my respiratory knowledge is centuries old!
