Ann, it sounds like you did a great job confronting the salesman.  (I
personally don't even like to call them "reps"-their purpose is sales and
that's what we should call them!)  So often they have ready answers to
whatever challenges one comes up with and it's not always easy to stand up
to them.  Congratulations!

I would have liked to see the reaction if you had asked, when suggesting
literature for formula feeding moms, that they include the recommendation to
write down all the lot numbers in case of any future recalls.  I bet they
would never put that in their literature!
