If you are using a gram scale, 1 gm of weight increase equals 1 ml of milk.  If your scale is sensitive enough you can try this - milk is 87% water.  Weigh a container, add exact amount of water to the container, then weigh. I've tested this myself and found it accurate, on a 1 gram accurate scale.

I was doing a lactation consult last week and did a pre-weight and post-weight on a baby. I realized that a ½ ounce in weight does not mean a ½ ounce in milk. How is this calculated? One gallon is 5 lbs. So how do we figure out how much one ounce of milk weighs? I could weigh it myself I suppose and have my own little chart I guess. Is there a chart or other formula for this?
