Hi -

I appreciate the comments that I received about the mom with sore nipples...I
still need a little help.

Just to recap, this is her 3rd baby, others nursed very well. She is
extremely well-informed. There doesn't appear to be a mechanical problem -
no short frenulum, no high arch - and the latch on is good. The "clencher"
is that she complains that her nipples were extremely tender during her
pregnancy. Is there a hormonal connection that would cause things to be
different this 3rd time around? One LC friend of mine suggested the culprit
might be estrogen. If this is true, what is the mechanism here?

I guess the bottom line is...is there any relief for her?

By the way, I haven't formerly introduced myself yet to my fellow
lactnetters. I am an RN (since 1977) with past NICU experience. More
recently, I have been involved with prenatal teaching and also work out of
our hospital lactation clinic. I have 3 wonderful kidlets - ages 12, 10, and
5 - who keep me very busy, along with hubby and lots of animals (16 llamas -
one born just today and nursing fine, I might add!), a cat, dog, rats, etc.

I'm really enjoying visiting y'all on the "net!"
