We have 7 FTEs to cover 8000+ births/year - 1 FTE (of the 7) is NICU.
Unfortunately she often gets "pulled" to the mother-baby floor when someone
calls in
sick! We have a total of 61 NICU beds.

Nancy,
We have 4.2 FTE's to cover 6000+ births per year. This includes a 40 bed
NICU, 20 bed level two nursery, 6 bed special care unit and a cardiovascular ICU
with 4 or more babies at any given time. One FTE of the 4.2 covers ICU's--total
of about 70 pts. It is woefully inadequate.

In your ideal world how many LC's would you like to see covering your NICU
and what would be their role? I feel we just have our finger in the dyke.
