<In the US, the "baby bath" is to protect the staff from any nasty germs on 
the baby, such as HIV.  Until they are bathed they are "dirty" and staff has 
to wear gloves to protect themselves.>

...when informed of this, our son told the nurse: "So, wear gloves!  As a matter of fact, I don't have to, and I plan to take care of the baby when my wife can't."
