The source of ingredients in infant formula (as well as in other foods
produced in the US) may not be labeled which may be of concern to people
consuming a diet that is kosher (i.e., prepared according to Jewish law) or
halal (e.g., prepared according to Islamic law). Manufacturers may provide
information about these and other product additives upon request.

A website addressing Jewish dietary laws is:
http://www.barmitzvahs.org/judaism/kashrut.php#Shechitah
A website addressing the licensing of halal slaughterhouses in the UK is:
http://www.halalfoodauthority.com/originHFA.shtml
A website addressing halal meat is: http://www.oneummah.net/halal_meat.html

Definitions appear to vary based on interpretations of the relevant laws.

In the absence of information from the manufacturer, there seems to be no
reason to assume that DHA/ARA mass-produced from "slaughterhouse material"
in the US would be kosher or halal.
