Ordinary cows milk has considerably more protein than breastmilk; 
formula milk has a little more protein than breastmilk.

It  is a *good* thing that there is less protein in breastmilk - I 
once saw a magazine article that was dividing breastfeeding and 
formula feeding into 'pros' and 'cons' and a 'pro' for formula 
feeding was that it had more protein than breastmilk.  In fact, we 
can all confidently assume that the amount of whatever that is in 
breastmilk is the 'right' amount!

But if you take the average, it's still a little more than in cows 
milk formula and a little more again than in whole milk.
