this subject was discussed in the list some weeks ago regarding the use of
radioactive isotopes in breastfeeding mothers, in particular Technetium-99m
(although what was said in Lactnet is applicable to any short lived
radioisotope of the kind that is used in nuclear medicine).

I don't know whether it is any different in the US, but usually radiation
protection and nuclear safety guidelines are imposed at the national level.
I don't know of any rad prot regulation at state level. In your case, the
NRCs standards should be the applicable requirements.

I am surprised at your mention of restrictions regarding CT scans and
MRIs... CT scans are no more dangerous than X-Rays, and MRIs do not involve
ionizing radiation... I understand from your post that they finally dropped
the restrictions. Good!
