I have to comment on 2 of the posts. First, thanks Fio for your CPS
(Child Passenger Safety) info. I fight this battle all the time in my
community, trying both to get moms to breastfeed AND properly use car
seats and belts!! But I think to compare mortality rates, statistics is
rather "apples and oranges". To me, and maybe it is just me,
breastfeeding and car seats are BOTH health promotion interventions.
No, people don't understand the importance of breastfeeding enough, but
neither do they about car seats. The only reason that car seats have
made it on the news more is that you're not talking about a body part!!
Secondly, I will add my "2 cents" with Jo-Ann. I value breast milk more
than gold, but I too think it is disconcerting that the for-profit milk
banks are implying that there is something wrong with the non-profit
milk bank's milk. It ranks right up there with Mead Johnson's
"Expecta". If you haven't seen it marketed, Expecta is a
vitamin/supplement for pregnant and lactating women. A DHA supplement.
This too implies that there is something wrong, or not complete with
mom's milk and we KNOW that's not true!!!
 UGH!
