Delaying the scan was my first suggestion as well, but she was adamant that
it could not be delayed and, of course, I am not qualified to decide that.

The baby eats no solid foods (save for a few Cheerios) and I wonder what
kind of problems could be created by starting a variety of solids all at
once in such a sensitive. Her GER is apparently also very severe and I
imagine solids would aggravate that.

I suggested she assume the worst case outcome here--thyroid cancer--and ask
the baby's doctor what she should be fed in that case (assuming that thyroid
cancer treatment would require complete cessation of breastfeeding...would
that be the case?). If she would have to wean permanently for cancer
treatment, then they will have to come up with a long term feeding solution
for this baby. If they decide what they would implement in the long-run
(worst case) then they could implement it for the short-term during the
test.
