Hello all:

Just wanted to introduce myself! I signed on right before Christmas, but with
the holidays and a vacation, am just now getting around to this.  I have
greatly enjoyed the information I've received and have learned so much!  I am
a Lactation Nurse Specialist at a hospital in the Denver, CO area which
serves mostly lower income patients.  I started the Lactation program there
about 4 years ago in response to a huge need for both staff and patient
education.  The program has expanded and we now have 4 nurses, although there
are currently many hospitals in this area which are cutting or greatly
reducing their lactation programs, so I'm hoping our program will remain
intact.  In addition, I also co-own a breastpump rental and in-home
breastfeeding consultation business which I greatly enjoy.

I have a couple of questions to throw out.  A friend of mine recently was
told that an herb called GOTHRUE (not sure of the spelling) was a wonderful
breastmilk stimulator, but we can not find much information on it or dosages.
 Does anyone have information on that?  We have been recommending Fenugreek
to many clients and have had much success with it.  If anyone has information
and/or references, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Also, I'd be curious to know if other hospitals are experiencing the same
drastic cuts to lactation services that we are in this area?  If so, how is
this being handled and has anyone actually had cut programs restored?  If any
of this info has been posted recently, I apologize; I've been off the mail
list for the last month while I was away.
