Bonnie,

I have used duoderm in the past with moms with tape allergies. You cut a
small square of duoderm and apply it to the breast above where the baby
latches, then mom tapes the supplementer to the duoderm and down over the
areola to the base of the nipple. Baby's sucking usually loosens the tape
over the areola so it doesn't pull to remove it and mom just pulls the tape
off the duoderm but leaves the duoderm on. One patch of duoderm can last up
to a week depending on her skin type and although unattractive (its brown) it
will prevent tape burn. Mom can peel the duoderm off early if she needs to.
You can buy this at most pharmacies that also do medical supplies and you
don't need a prescription. One square will last her for weeks and where I
live the pharmacist will sell you one square instead of the whole box for a
couple dollars.
