When I read the first few lines I thought reflux and there it is in 2nd
paragraph!
Is she still using the zantac and is it an adequate dose?
If she uses the shield does he continue to gain?  I don't see anything wrong
with using a shield forever if that is what it takes for comfortable
nursing - just keep tabs on weight gain.
Be sure and keep a note on the LC (?) who charged her $400 to tell her to
give up!  I wouldn't refer anyone else to her!  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
