This did happen. I spoke to the mother, father and their attorney, a few
>days after it happened. The mother was told that the law required the
>baby's head to be covered. McD's response last night to one TV
station was that the mother had exposed herself (untrue) and that's why
she
was asked to leave. These people were totally humiliated and had to
leave their dinner on the table, crying baby and toddler in tow. They
are
very private people and their main concern
is that this not happen again.

If you have time, please write McD's. I am suggesting that they support
a breastfeeding awareness campaign, and/or donate money to community
groups which support breastfeeding. The parents are looking for an
apology and a change in corporate policy. This happened Sat. Jan 4,
1997, at the McDs in the Marlton WalMart (WalMart is not implicated in
any way in this--please don't write them). The woman's name is Eileen
Hernandez. Her baby was approx. a month old, and even if she wanted
to cover the baby's head, she couldn't b/c the child has apnea.
